If you read the first volume of this series, you may be expecting the second book to be largely similar - with Mile bouncing around from thing to thing trying to show just how "average" she is all the while having fun / fluffy interactions with a lot of people. However, that's not really the case here. Rather, the book takes a slightly more dark tone and throws the Crimson Vow party into a variety of quests (which would be way too difficult if not for Mile). There's some minor character development but overall it's mainly just Mile being Mile against a variety of different enemies.I enjoyed how overpowered and ridiculous Mile was in the first book - but I felt like this book went a bit too far. There were quite a few fights where Mile did things that she shouldn't have done and it just sort of got brushed off by everyone. The author seems to cop out of ever writing the conversation around this in favor of being like, "family secret" and then "Mile made up something that everyone believed and the conversation was dropped." I'd just prefer if Mile genuinely tried to be more secretive rather than constantly spoiling how op she is as it makes those moments where she does something really cool feel less exciting.Furthermore, I wish that this book had more of a "plot" rather than _just_ like slice of life adventure type things. Like the first book felt like so much more happened and that there was significant progress in the world. When Mile made up that she was a goddess I was really pleased and was hoping to see more of that but, alas, no such luck. All we really get in this book is just the party beating up bad guys. With all that being said, I did still really enjoy this book. I like that there are strong female characters and that there's nothing super tragic that ever happens. I love the little quirks that each of the characters have. Basically it's a feel-good book with a bit of fluff and no real plot. If you enjoyed the previous book, you'll prolly enjoy this one, too :)
So very disappointed. This book was mostly about the four girls days as a hunter. I found it difficult to keep reading the book as it was for the most part a snore. The only high light was when the party fought off 'bandits' and that was only after suffering though chapters of pointless hunter missions that made me feel like I was reading a bad (really long) Naruto side story. The kind that no one really like but suffers through in the hopes of getting to the actual main story line. The only reason I give it three stars is because the ending was fairly interesting and it wasn't so bad that I would stop reading it. I hope the writer includes some more interesting plot twists in the next book otherwise I predict there won't be many people that read the next one.
Still my favorite LN, but the lack of plot, character development, and understanding of how energy works (creating a pothole for Mile and her super strength) has me reducing the rating. I loved the pacing of the first book it's easily my favorite LN, but it seems the author has settled down and is trying to milk the loli trope now. The girls are still children but act with the maturity and experience of adults in their mid thirties. Hopefully the next book will bring back a plot and have the characters develope a little more. Also, I'd be nice if the author leave out science they only sorta understand.
meh. The first book was fun. This book is.....hmm.....well....I guess there wasn't any surprises in it. It read like something I would have had a decent chance of creating myself without any hints as fan fiction. It's decent. It's well written. I have no complaints with the plot or the character development. But for a book about magical girls, the magic is all gone. Sorry to give such a lackluster review, but I can't say I'm glad I bought this book.
Magic, Adventure, secrets, reincarnation, overly powered heroin, lots of Comedy, what more can you want from a book then "didn't I say to make my abilities average in the next life" if you are looking for a book to break away from reality I strongly recommend this one. It gives you a view point through a woman's perspective with a lot of Comedy. It will make you want to pick up this book again and read it to the very end
Apart from a girl named 'Lenny', this translation was fine! When I read the first book I kept adding to a list of complaints (partially posted in a review of it) about the translation--even though I wasn't looking for mistakes, I kept seeing them, and it detracted a lot from my enjoyment of that book. This one is all Mile.It also includes two scenes that aren't in the web novel at all.
If you read the first book, you will enjoy this one as well. If you haven't read the first one, then read them both.
I am currently reading this series, I just finished the 4th book not too long ago and have ordered the 5th. I started reading the manga version of this as well, but in my opinion, I prefer the light novel version instead of the manga. There is much more detail and it's much more entertaining.
