She bravely bares her soul on some of the entries of her life by featuring some of what she has overcame (I say bravely because I admit that I probably would be guilty of covering up some of the harshest events that occurred in my life if I were in her shoes such as the brave situation where she describes the dynamics between her and her late ex-husband). Conner explains what is writing down your soul and the commitment difference between writing down your soul versus journaling, creating a schedule and a sacred writing space, and much more.

Writing down your soul is one of those few books that I call a gift. A gift that came at the right time when I was exploring my soul and its purpose. I had tons of questions to ask and this book came to my rescue. I realized that I have been conversing my soul prior to that, I just didn't have a name for it except to call it automatic writing. I would pose a question and an answer came rushing down from my gut into my chest and down my arms. The voice had extraordinary wisdom, it felt like the self that is perfect, whole and complete talking to the limited and scared self. Right now, with the help of Janet's work, I am able to establish a practice of daily conversations with the voice which I refer to as my true self. My journaling begins with: Dear true amazing self and then the journey into mystery begins. I am grateful to have experienced soul writing as a spiritual practice that grounds me and allows me to realize that we are all conduit for Divine truth. It was yet another night of lying in bed, worrying about all sorts of things, when something told me it might be time to take a look at that book I purchased a while ago. I had no idea what to expect. I just knew I wanted to learn a little more about myself and my soul. So I started reading, and found myself moved by Janet's stories about the amazing surprises and blessings that are in store for us when we write this way. I'm a seasoned journaler and I've read all the great writers on the subject -- Kathleen Adams, Christina Baldwin, Tristine Rainer -- and yes, Tristine's work is wonderful at helping us see how writing can connect us to something bigger, how patterns and meaning emerges through our lives, and how we can write our story in a way that is spiritually powerful. But nothing prepared me for Janet's work: here was someone talking matter-of-factly about the downright miracles that can happen when you connect like this, and she's the most down-to-earth person who talks about miracles you could ever meet! I knew she was right because at my most connected, most aligned, the miracles have happened for me, too. I even been working on a memoir about that for a couple years now because I thought I had so much to share with the world. This book and Janet's work is teaching me that I haven't scratched the surface. There's more. So much more. And I've experienced incredible things that most people just wouldn't believe, so that's saying something.It's the first thing to *really* speak to me in a really long time, and while I can name a handful of books that were life-changing in one way or the other (I LOVE reading), this one blows the others out of the water. I can attest to that.Too often, I have read books without doing the writing exercises. Not so with this one. This time I did all the writing exercises requested. I even bought the companion workbook. That’s something else I don’t usually do, thinking that a ruled notebook is sufficient. It may be, if your budget is pinching you. But the workbook offers so much more and it will continue to offer more as I return to it for the quotes, thoughts, and suggestions that will continue to inspire me even now that I have finished the book awhile ago.This time, I wanted to see if it really makes a difference; if completing the writing exercises in the book is that wee bit extra that makes a giant difference. IT DOES.Janet Conner put me in touch with my spirit guides. I’ve known for a long time that we all have spirit guides and angels that hang around us, keeping an eye on us and getting us out of trouble from time to time. I didn’t know that they were waiting around for us to actually ask them for help! What a difference that makes!Thanks to Janet, I found my guide, Timothy who said to me, “It’s about time. I get bored with nothing to do. I cannot do things for you unless you do your job of ASKING for guidance, help, and/or answers.”Whoa! I never knew that I could actually talk to my guides and get actual answers from them!There is so much more that I want to tell you about this book. So I am going to end this post and write more in the next post.A word to the wise, first; when you buy the book be prepared to write on the pages! Yes, this is something else I never allowed myself to do. I’ll be returning to this book over and over again. My writing in the margins, underlining, drawing little attention-getting icons and doodles, are an important part of the education of me, Arlene. WOW!

If you enjoy mystery, pain, love and murder, read this book. I confess I read by author and she is one of my favs, but this story just got under my skin. I felt sad, unsettled and confused almost simultaneously and I could not put this book down until I finished the entire book!!!

Typically I love Tami Hoag books. This one was different. Characters were so flawed they were difficult to like and want to continue to read about. In general this was a depressing book. I would not buy one with these characters again.

Ms. Hoag makes the Louisiana back country real in both a romantic and terrifying way. A child is sexually molested, another child is murdered in a small town on the edge of the swamp. Are these crimes connected? Sheriff's detective Annie Boussard and her hot blooded Cajun husband, who is also her boss, must try to find the suspect(s) when very few of any clues exist. This mail biting, page turning novel will keep you reading late into the night.

I waited over a year for this book to come on my kindle and was not disappointed. I reread "A Thin Red Line" to make sure I remembered the characters. I really loved the story line even though it was emotional. Can't go too much into the story because one wrong step and you ruin the plot for others. It was a fantastic book and maybe next book she will get Chas a permanent girl friend.

I had a difficult time staying with this book and skipped more than a few pages. Nick Fourcade is a bully and disguising it under the premise of being "right" doesn't change the facts. I am also not a fan of the squabbling relationship dynamics between Nick and Annie. I found the story more depressing than entertaining.

Tami Hoag is an amazing author. This is the 4th book I had read by her, and I was not disappointed. To make things even better, she has set the book in and around south Louisiana, my home. I also love the depth of her characterization. I felt like I could feel what Annie and Nick were feeling. Mrs. Hoag was certainly right when she pointed out the injustices that often occur in law enforcement and in public opinion. Because she gets us into the main characters' heads so well, it is easy to see how even good people can do evil things. I truly didn't figure out who killed the victims until about 30 pages before it ended.the end. The problem with reading a book this well written and compelling is that it is a hard act to follow. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could read next? By the way, if you have not read the three books in her Secrets From the Grave series. do it! They are unbelievably good.

I am a huge Tami Hoag fan. I have been eagerly waiting for this book, as it's taken much longer for her to publish it since her last novel. As I began, I was excited that she was returning to the Louisiana Bayou, an area where she has based some of her best work. This novel deals with the murders of two children, and this made it very difficult for me to read. As always, her details are brilliant, and I love the way she writes. Unlike many authors, Ms. Hoag will present several characters as possible suspects, and I am never sure who the guilty person might be until the end. However, she is always fair to the reader - it will be one of the suspects that she has given. I am furious when an author suddenly gives a "surprise" perpetrator of the crime at the end of the story. Ms. Hoag never does that. Hopefully, she will not take as long between books as she did with this novel. She is my favorite fiction writer!

I just finished reading "The Boy." There is no end to the amount of twists, and the author is adept at misleading her readers into suspecting who the killer is. That's precisely why I liked this book so much! We are first introduced to a troubled young single mother, Genevieve Gauthier, who is fleeing from her rented ramshackle of a home where her only son was brutally murdered. Then shortly thereafter, Nick Fourcade visits the crime scene, only to immediately conflict with Keith Kemp, who he thinks is an incompetent CSI officer. In her delightfully complex ensemble of characters, it turns out that Kemp has a checkered past, having gone from a veteran cop to a CSI examiner. Also, having followed the new sheriff, Kelvin Dutrow, from a previous town, Houma, into Bayou Breaux arising suspicion in Detective Fourcade. Tami Hoag lets the reader view the family lives of Nick and Annie, a married couple who are both detectives (Nick being her boss). Dutrow lives with his fiancee, Sharon Spencer, with her troubled child, Cameron. Inner conflicts occur. There is the unsolved case of the Theriot girl, which Nick constantly gets hounded over. There is the Florette family, with Nora, a 12-year-old who was supposed to baby sit for KJ, the murder victim, but is embroiled with her bully brother, Dean Florette, who also bullies the troubled Cameron. Cameron Spicer turns out to be a character that the reader will focus on. The author's attention to detail and setting is keen. The spirit of life in the bayou is nicely captured. The ending of this book begets tragedy in the wake of violence. Don't miss this read!

About the Author

About the Author Batt Johnson is an Argentine tango dancer and college professor who has worked as a communication consultant, award-winning actor, award-winning music radio DJ/producer and writer. He wrote a monthly column for ReporTango magazine and is the author of three published books on subjects ranging from acting and public speaking to jazz. He was a music writer and host for “Only One New York,” a weekly television show on PBS, a national music video host and writer for MTV’s “VH-1 Music Television” and wrote the liner notes for many professional tango musician’s CDs. He studied tango dancing in both North and South America with some of the most influential and celebrated tango dancers and teachers of our time. This is an interesting book that deals with many aspects of argentine tango dancing with the aim of giving the reader insight into the biomechnical, emotional and musical part of this great dance. The author is a very nice person and his enthusiasm for the dance and for improving his dancing qualities is inspiring. The book is intended to help others to improve the quality of their dance. The prose is easy to read. However, for a more experienced dancer, the book is not relevant as it covers too many topics without going into depth in any of them. The general advice that has been repeated ted throughout the book is that to improve the quality of one's dance, one needs to practice and to develop an understanding of tango music, which is obvious. There interviews with very well known great dancers and teachers, but unfortunately, the conversations were superficial and in many cases without a clear focus. The book suffers from repetition and requires editing.

Batt Johnson is a long time tango dancer, professor of public speaking, communication consultant, media and speech coach, award-winning actor and veteran radio and TV broadcaster in NYC. He has written a book that is one of a kind as he is. I really enjoyed this book. I've read just about every book about tango in English, and this is one of the better ones. It has a very conversational style with Batt telling stories and opinions based on his years in the New York tango scene and his tremendously varied background in the Art and media. I'm a fairly experienced tango dancer myself and it was really interest to get his perspective on many things I thought about myself, like what makes a quality tango teacher or how the dance relates to the music. It also has nice interviews with many well-known tango dancers in the New York area. I had a couple chance meetings with Batt at milongas (tango dance events) on a recent trip to New York, and his friendly outgoing personalty in real life shows up in every page of this book.

The MOST comprehensive book on everything tango-related! Written with so much love and appreciation for the dance and its music that it will definitely inspire you to dance more and/or to learn more about both, while often making you laugh out loud! I definitely had a few “been there, experienced that” moments, making tango relatable and lovable in a completely new way. This book made me fall in love with tango all over again!

A great and comprehensive book covering numerous aspects of Argentine tango. The best part is surely the interviews! On the down side, the book is repetitive at times and could use some watering down; there are also some issues with proofreading. But I guess this is just my linguistic background speaking.

When talking and writing about tango, words often fail to come close to explaining it, or explaining how to do it. Having been a dancer for 43 years, I feel that truly learning a dance form is a lifelong experience of both doing it and of hearing about it from many different perspectives. Eventually all those perspectives coalesce into a three dimensional understanding of the form within each individual. Each teacher highlights a different section of the three dimensional form when they teach. It’s up to the student to bring all those ideas together inside of themselves, along with their own understanding, to form their dance. This book has many tidbits and tales from tango teachers all over the world, as well as a lot of advice. It will be extremely useful for tango students to get some of this three dimensional understanding for their tango, as well as being highly amusing, fun, entertaining, and informative!

I am a solo indie designer/developer and have been reading a lot on how to design and develop games over the past 3 years. It has been part time as I work full-time overseas. I have read numerous articles and books on game design to understand the process. Most of the material though I found assumed you were a student looking to work for a AAA studio; designing for a particular genre; or already working in a AAA studio and needing to polish your knowledge. They got me started, but I had to filter a lot of the info so it applied to my situation and needs. I came across this book while reading another book on game design. I am very glad to have purchased and read it. Unlike the others, it is genre neutral and focuses on the basics that a designer needs to understand to have a solid foundation. The writing is clear and the concepts presented have several examples across different genres to demonstrate how they apply regardless of genre. The book also takes the player-centric approach to game design. It also introduces a tool called Machinations which is used to test how the core mechanics work. That alone was a great thing to learn and has helped me immensely in my understanding of how to design games. I would highly recommend this book for any student of game design (formal or informal), especially people like me who want to take a hobby to a possible vocation.

One of the two great game books I've read, the other being Jesse Schell's Book of Lenses. Where the Book of Lenses is more broad, Earnest Adams' book is specific and detailed, outlining how to diagram game systems to analyze them. This means that it's usefulness may be more limited, but providing game design professionals with tools to help understand and process their work is a huge win.

Based heavily on Joris Dormans's doctoral thesis, this book discusses how to analyze game mechanics in terms of resource flow and feedback. It is an incredibly powerful framework which deserves more attention than it gets.Game designer professionals and would-be's should pay attention to the ideas and patterns elaborated here.

Ive only gone through this once but I will be going through it several more times.There are almost no books on game mechanics but this one makes up for it. It really goes into depth on what an economy is in a game and the effect of positive and negative feedback.There is of course a healthy amount of mechanics theory and plenty of game examples (across all major genres). However where this book really shines is the machinations system.Be warned machinations is no joke and will take some dedicated work to learn and practice. However machinations is a powerful prototyping feature that can help you make a good starting point for game balance and testing out plausible game mehanics or there effects.Great book just know it is very advanced and there is a learning curve!

Although Machinations is very similar with a kind of discrete System Dynamics, it is very useful for understanding mechanics and dynamics of a game. No game designer should plan a game without using of at lest tinkering with its behavior in Machinations.

a must-read for the game designer, especially system designers. it teaches the way of systematical and abstract thinking which is essential for system designers.

I really like the not quite so fluffy style of describing the mechanics of game economy. The "machinations" diagrams and program is really useful, but it would have been nice if a simpe version of the source code for a simple version of a program that demonstrates the handling of pools and connection was available. It could have clarified some of the occasionally vague descriptions of how they consider pools and the sequence of evaluation.

Quick Overview:Pros- Informative if you are new to drones. A lot of diagrams and pictures. A lot of basic info that can honestly just be found online, but it's conveniently all in this guide.Cons- All of this info can be found on the internet. If you have even a little experience with drones, there is really not much here.This is a good guide if you're brand new to the world of drones/quadcopters. If you have more than a little experience with this subject, then you won't find a lot of useful information in it. It is full of diagrams, and pictures, and does a nice job explaining exactly how drones work, and gives you a little history on drones.I recommend this guide for newbies to the world of drones, but more experienced "pilots" may find it useful as a paperweight.

Slick layout but a little confusing trying to figure what words go with what pictures. In the photo section there was a statement that was flat out wrong. This caused me to lose confidence in all the information. The one good thing I got from it was when considering a drone buy an inexpensive one and learn to fly it. If you ruin a $60 drone you will not feel as bad as ruining a $1000 one. Learn to fly the cheap on first. All the controls are similar.

Enjoyed reading about drones for the first time. Learned a lot even if I never get a drone. I'll pass this book on.
