I am a mom of a 9 year old boy, 7 year old girl and 5 year old girl. My son struggles with my rules for our family IPad and I found this book to be a good source of information on answering my son's continual question of why? Why can I not play video games everyday? Why can my friends play their video games all the time? Why do you have to be so strict? I now tell him that I am saving his brain for bigger and better things. We have read parts of the book together so that we can discuss it and make a plan together on what is reasonable and what is not. He does get to play video games but on a schedule for a set amount of time. Once that time is up then the IPad goes away and he can find another activity to do. I also found many practical ideas on how to "take the house back" by setting boundaries for not only my kids but also for me to live by. I will keep this book close by for as my children grow and want to become active in social media and other digital products that we have not even experienced yet.

The discussion questions are excellent as well. And, as a Christian I liked seeing the word "God" in print with a positive connotation! Read carefully, however, WITHOUT BLINDERS! My main concern about the book is its research parameters. Many of the citations are from non-peer-reviewed magazines, not peer-reviewed journals. This is an important distinction. Peer-reviewed journals, such as "Social, Psychological and Personality Science", are held to much more rigorous standards than, say, the Huffington Post. Which means, in effect, that the facts put forth in the book should be checked for validity, not simply reliability.

A must read for all parents and grandparents. This well written book will open the eyes of all adults as to the dangers associated with too much screen time for our kids. As a grandparent raising my children in a before-internet era, Gary and Arlene made me aware of the need for parental guidance with our children/grandchildren in the use of the various devices to which they have access. Recently I experienced the isolation that takes place when my grandchildren were allowed to use there devices without limit and in their own rooms. I am also aware that I need to set the right example for them and not be on my devices when I should be relating to my grandchildren and others. I strongly urge all parents and grandparents to read this book! I have recommended it to my own adult children and many other parents.

As a mother of three young children, this book challenged me not only in my heart and attitudes in raising them, but in my own habits and actions. This is one I will revisit and read again as a reminder to check in with my own media use. This is an excellent set of CDs to listen to while you're going back-and-forth to work or traveling. Only knock I have on this product is that you cannot return to the previous versus without skipping several way backwards. That's kind of a pain but at least the CDs have played well and they have good messages.

I have tried to listen to this but honestly the fist few minutes of the first CD were like walking into church late...what did I miss because I am not able to make the connection , any connection with this. Sounds good in theroy but " My Bridge Radio" online does a much better job and I don't have to gamble on what I am getting.Nice attempt but far too formal and church like and less on the moving inspirational goal I was looking for.

I purchased this coloring book as a gift for my 87 year old mother, who is born and raised in Japan. As I haven't colored in it, I can only say that she loves it. It provides her hours of quiet meditation (her words) and she loves her 'masterpieces' upon completion. I'm so pleased that there's coloring books for adults of different subject matters. Will definitely order more when she completes this book.

Interesting theme for this one. It was more than creative and enjoyable. Who hasn't picked up a deck of cards and looked at the Joker...Knave...Wild card? Again, creative and a distance from the norm of flowers and geometrics. Good choice.

I enjoy coloring- it's even been recommended by my Dr. for a calming distraction for pain control.The velum paper is nice- it accepts markers well. But it can smear a tad if you touch it too soon after coloring a section. I didn't like the look of crayons on the velum though. Not rich enough color saturation.Very detailed drawings. Kimono have great designs that turn out very colorful in the end. Looks great hung in windows- the translucence of the velum really makes it look like stained glass.

Don't let the suggested age for this book throw you - a person of any age would enjoy coloring these Japanese drawings. This delightful little coloring book has 16 beautiful transparent plates of geishas (reading, dancing, playing instruments, etc.) that can be colored with any medium and then placed over a lamp or window to give the illusion of stained glass. My only wish is that there were more pictures.

So I wanted to share our crazy awesome results. We started giving our 12 yr old bedwetter nightly enemas (fleet adult liquid glycerin suppositories) 6 nights ago and we have had 6 dry nights in a row. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic that there might still be some hiccups down the road, but honestly, this is huge for us. My son was potty trained at 2 1/2, but even though he didn't have accidents in the day, he has been a nightly bedwetter. We have never had a spontaneous dry night. Ever. When we go on camp outs or on the nights he's wanted to sleep in our bed we have had to get him up several times in the night or he would soak the sheets. In other words, he wet several times a night. For this reason regular pull ups never worked because there was too much output. We have spent a fortune on different water proof sheets and pads, both disposable and reusable. We spent close to two thousand dollars for therapy at the Enuresis Treatment Center. Big waste of money. I do not recommend it! We spent another thousand on bi weekly trips to the chiropractor. Numerous alarms. So. Much. Laundry. The one constant has been that we've always known this was not his fault and so he has never been shamed. But it has still taken a toll on his confidence. When I learned about MOP I finally made an appt with a pediatric urologist. The closest one was 2.5 hours away. I had so much hope that the X-rays would support what I was expecting to find. However, they completely dismissed the notion that he was constipated. Said he actually looked better than most kids. I wouldn't let it go and Dr. Steve Hodges was kind enough to look at the X-rays and give a second opinion. He confirmed he was backed up. Now we are starting on my 6 year old daughter who is also a bedwetter. We know now not to just wait it out!*update We are now into this about two weeks. We've had 2 or 3 wet nights and the rest have been dry. We are thrilled with this progress! My son, who as you can imagine was not keen on the thought of daily enemas, now reminds us it's time! So grateful to have found Dr. Hodges and the MOP protocol!

So far, this is working for our 3 (almost 4) year old daughter. She started potty training around 39 months and never had much trouble going pee, but still hasn't mastered pooping in the potty. She started holding in her poop, which quickly evolved into dry/hard poop, skid marks, flakes, etc. We really knew there was a problem when she started pooping in her pants almost daily, seemingly unaware that it was even happening. She hasn't had much of an issue with pee accidents, but still wears a pull-up at night. After going through Miralax hell with an older child, I was willing to try anything else EXCEPT Miralax. Interestingly enough, our daughter actual eats a very healthy/balanced diet. She loves fruits, veggies and whole grains, and probably eats healthier than most 3 year olds. She has never had any sort of fast food, and we avoid processed foods like the plague. Yet, she still became constipated! We are on day 21 of this protocol, and she has only had 2 poop accidents since we started! She hasn't had any skid marks, her poops are nice and soft, and wiping is a breeze. So far, she hasn't been able to poop on her own without the enemas, but I will follow the course, and hope that happens sometime in the near future. We are giving her Natural Vitality Mag Citrate gummies instead of Miralax and they seem to be working wonderfully. Her poop is nice and soft. My only reservation is that we didn't get our doctor onboard, and I feel somewhat uncomfortable carrying out the trial/error method without personalized guidance. The book provides a nice framework, but it gets somewhat confusing when you start to take into consideration all of the possible variations in outcomes/symptoms from one child to the next. I would like to have my daughter x-rayed to see where we are at, and whether we need to make any changes to optimize her results. There aren't any providers in our State on the provider locator tool from their website. We will give it a little more time, but I would be willing to drive to another State to have her seen and get to the bottom of this once and for all. I should add that the enemas are not at all traumatizing for her! She definitely fussed about it for the first week or so (including full on fits for the first 3 nights), but now she actually reminds me that it's time for her treatment. She feels so much better, and is a happier kid! I let her play ABC Mouse on my iPad while she's sitting on the potty, which is a huge motivator for her. I also read Dr. Hodges "It's No Accident" and introduced the concept to our daughter by reading "Jane and the Giant Poop" and "Bedwetting and Accident's Aren't Your Fault" to her numerous times before we started the treatments. The books are great, and they helped our very young daughter to fully understand what is happening in her body, and how we are trying to correct it.

This book traces the history of noh and kyōgen, the first major Japanese theatrical arts. Going beyond P. G. O'Neill's Early Nō Drama of 1958, it covers the full period of noh's medieval development and includes a chapter dedicated to the comic art of kyōgen, which has often been left in noh's shadow. It is based on contemporary research in Japan, Asia, Europe and America, and embraces current ideas of theatre history, providing a richly contextualized account which looks closely at theatrical forms and genres as they arose. The masked drama of noh, with its ghosts, chanting and music, and its use in Japanese films, has been the object of modern international interest. However, audiences are often confused as to what noh actually is. This book attempts to answer where noh came from, what it was like in its day, and what it was for. To that end, it contains sections which discuss a number of prominent noh plays in their period and challenges established approaches. It also contains the first detailed study in English of the kyōgen repertoire of the sixteenth-century.

Noel John Pinnington is Associate Professor Emeritus of the University of Arizona, USA. He has held appointments at the Universities of Cambridge, Arizona, and Kyushu. His recent work includes 'The Early History of the Noh Play: Literacy, Authorship, and Scriptedness' in Monumenta Nipponica (2014) and collaboration on the film adaptation of the noh play Kinuta, set in Arizona, titled Wind Well (2017).
